NICE to broaden use of tranexamic acid in surgery under guidance update

NICE has recommended much wider use of tranexamic acid in surgery to prevent unnecessary blood transfusions in draft guidance.

The update on 2015 guidance will make it simpler for clinicians to decide who should get the drug by widening the criteria to most patients undergoing surgery.
