Dr Ed Cantelo explains how to make sure your donations go as far as possible – and why that has tax benefits too.
Each year Doctors.net.uk members give generously to charity, donating reward points – earned by simply using the site or via things like participation in market research – to causes ranging from the British Red Cross to Macmillan Cancer Support to Age UK. Last year, members gave more than £14,000 this way.
And all of that is before you consider the other ways in which doctors are donating or giving back. To continue to make your giving go as far as possible, there are a few things it is good to be aware of as UK taxpayers.
If you make a donation to a UK Charity as a UK taxpayer, you should be given the option to claim Gift Aid. This is well worth doing as it not only benefits the charity – it may also help you save tax.
