'A for associate' - GMC confirms prefix for MAP reference numbers

Physician and anaesthesia associates will have an 'A' at the start of their reference numbers, the General Medical Council has confirmed.

The regulator announced in December that AAs and PAs would have a prefix to differentiate their numbers from doctors' reference numbers, after concerns were raised that it would cause confusion to include associates on the same register as doctors.
