Results from large trials of AI scribes in hospitals show that they can reduce admin significantly and improve wellbeing. But some question whether longer term, they could actually increase doctors' workloads.

Dr Maaike Kusters used to spend hours each day on paperwork. In clinics at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), the consultant paediatric immunologist says she was often looking at the screen and typing rather than facing her patient and their family.
