Alzheimer’s disease risk may originate in the immune system, a new genetic analysis suggests.

The findings challenge the long-held assumption that Alzheimer’s begins in the brain, instead showing a crucial role for the peripheral immune system and barrier tissues in the lungs, gut and skin.
