An anaesthetist has been erased from the medical register after being convicted of child sex offences including assaulting a young girl.

The tribunal concluded Dr Edward Finn (formerly of Hollygate Lane, Cotgrave), who also took and made indecent photographs or images of children, had “abused his professional position for his own sexual gratification”.

One of the victims was unconscious at the time, and another patient was in the middle of a surgical procedure, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service document states. The tribunal noted that Finn’s behaviour also extended outside of the clinical setting in respect of a child of a family friend.

Last year, Finn admitted to one count of sexual assault of a child under 13, three counts of making indecent photographs of children, three counts of taking indecent photographs of children, and two counts of voyeurism.

He was later sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court to 12-years in prison, a Restraining Order, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will have to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
