Assisted dying: Doctors advised not to engage patients in debate

Doctors in the UK have been advised to avoid directly engaging patients in the debate on assisted dying, in new guidance from the UK’s chief medical officers.

The letter to the medical community reads: “We are aware many doctors have strong, informed opinions on this important topic but there is a wide spectrum of considered views on it within the profession as in society.”
