Atlas of human cells being created to help develop new medicines

Work to chart the types and properties of all human cells – to build a reference map of the healthy human body – is expected to help experts to better treat diseases such as cancer, diabetes and arthritis.

More than 40 studies are being published that represent a leap in understanding of the cells – the fundamental units of life – in health and disease.
