Boost global sum by £50 and replace ARRS in next GP contract, BMA says

The global sum payment for each patient should increase by £50 a year in England’s GP contract so that more doctors can be recruited, the British Medical Association has said.

The union has also called for the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) to be replaced with funding that allows practices to employ GPs directly in proposals for 2026-27 submitted to the government.
