'Broken-heart syndrome’ patients failed by current treatment - research

Patients who suffer from takotsubo, commonly known as ‘broken-heart syndrome’, have a worse survival rate than the general population, according to research by the University of Aberdeen.

In the first study to ever compare takotsubo cases with heart attack patients and the general population over more than 5 years, researchers found patients were just as vulnerable as those who have suffered a heart attack.
