The government will invest £1.5 billion in NHS capital spending and include funding for 2 million extra NHS appointments a year in the budget on Wednesday, health secretary Wes Streeting has said.
Speaking to the BBC’s Today programme on Tuesday morning, he said: “The budget will enable us to deliver on our manifesto commitments on 40,000 more appointments every week to cut waiting lists, and not just more appointments, but reformed ways of working.”
