A “rapid review” of the role of medical associate professionals (MAPs) needs to be carried out in England, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges says.
In a letter [pdf] to the health secretary and the chief executive of NHS England, the group said the physician associate (PA) and anaesthesia associate (AA) roles should be looked at from three perspectives; patient safety, cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
