Calls for improved ovarian cancer screening among endometriosis patients under debate

The best way to approach the raised risk of ovarian cancer in women with endometriosis has come under the spotlight, with doctors in Italy warning of possible overtreatment.

There have been calls to improve ovarian cancer screening and prevention strategies among women with severe endometriosis. However, other researchers have argued that “misconception and lack of knowledge among doctors” about absolute and relative risks can “hinder truly informed consent”.
