Patients with tinnitus who are more troubled by the condition, and those with higher anxiety, appear to derive a greater benefit from cognitive behavioural therapy, new research suggests.

"Based on our findings, a clinically meaningful benefit from tinnitus was observed in 53 out of the 88 participants (60%) who took part in the group-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) programme," study author Dr Jay Piccirillo, professor and vice chair for otolaryngology research at Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine, US, told Doctors.net.uk.
