Common drugs show promise for slowing MS nerve damage in trial

Early results from a trial combining two common drugs to slow nerve damage in multiple sclerosis have been encouraging, researchers say.

The six-month study by the University of Cambridge found that diabetes medication metformin combined with the antihistamine clemastine could help preserve the protective myelin coating around nerve cells that becomes damaged in the disease.
