Concerns raised over hospital recruiting PA to cover stroke calls

A hospital trust has been criticised for advertising for a physician associate role with responsibility for bleep holding and management of acute stroke patients, including during out of hours.

North Bristol NHS Trust’s job advert is for a stroke PA who will have “responsibility for pre-alert/bleep holding and management of acute stroke including thrombolysis and thrombectomy referrals” at Southmead hospital, including “as part of resident out of hours rota”.
