CQC to increase inspections after admitting failures with regulatory approach

The Care Quality Commission will increase the number of inspections it carries out after admitting it “got things wrong” in the implementation of its new regulatory approach, the new leader said.

Interim chief executive Kate Terroni has written to providers to issue an apology. The new system has “made things more difficult than they should be”, she said.
