Data breaches have ‘failed’ HIV patients – ICO

Patients with HIV have been “failed” due to data breaches which revealed their HIV status, officials have said.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) described a number of breaches – many of which have occurred in error as health organisations copied people in to emails instead of using the private BCC function to send correspondence.
