Deaths from illicit use of anaesthetic drug increase dramatically

Deaths from illicit ketamine use have increased more than 20-fold over the past decade, warn researchers who trawled through inquest data.

Analysis of coroner’s reports from England, Wales and Northern Ireland between 1999 and 2024 found almost 700 deaths from recreational use of the drug.
