Direct evidence supports atrial fibrillation procedure

A common ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation has shown a clear benefit in what is thought to be the first double-blind randomised clinical trial of the intervention.

Pulmonary vein isolation significantly reduces symptoms compared with a placebo procedure, say Dr Rajdip Dulai, electrophysiology fellow at University College London, and colleagues.
