A doctor has been treated for stab wounds after he was attacked at the north London hospital where he worked.

The clinician, in his 50s, was stabbed at Hillingdon Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday, 26 May.

The hospital confirmed the doctor worked for the trust and said violence against staff is “unacceptable”.

His condition is not deemed to be life threatening or life changing, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police officers were already at the hospital for another incident when they were called to the stabbing.

Mahdi Abdullahi, from Uxbridge, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.

The 27-year-old was later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and theft of knives before appearing at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning.

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear in court on Friday.

A Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: "A member of our staff received non-life-threatening injuries in an incident at Hillingdon Hospital.
