Doctors' leaders say general practice remains ‘chronically understaffed’

Doctors’ leaders have said that general practice remains “chronically understaffed” after the government said 2,000 more GPs had been recruited.

The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) said that the number of qualified full time equivalent(FTE) GPs – which it said gives the most accurate picture of the primary care workforce – has only risen by 601 in the past year.
