Doctors should tell hospitals they will strike as flu cases soar, colleges urge BMA

Rules stating that resident doctors should not inform hospitals they plan to strike should be suspended by the British Medical Association as the NHS faces intense pressure over flu, medical colleges have warned.

In a rare intervention, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) has pleaded with the union to give managers the chance to “plan safely” ahead of the five-day strike action due to start on Wednesday, 17 December.
