Doctors who oppose assisted dying should not have to refer on, MPs told

Doctors who object to assisted dying should not be expected to “refer” a patient to another medical practitioner, the British Medical Association has told the committee of MPs scrutinising the private members’ bill.

Instead, an official information service should be set up to help patients navigate all aspects of end of life including assisted dying, the BMA’s ethics committee chair Dr Andrew Green said.
