Dramatic expansion of non-medical roles has ‘failed to learn lessons’ on integration – report

The scale of change in NHS England's workforce, with the expansion of new healthcare roles, has been “dramatic” and “failed to take account of lessons from history”, a report has concluded.

The independent think tank the Nuffield Trust has carried out a study, commissioned by NHS Employers, on the history of how different roles, including physician associates, nursing associates and advanced nurse practitioners, have been introduced to the NHS.
