Festive NHS closures fuel month-long A&E crisis, college warns

Shutting down routine NHS services over the festive season heaps pressure on emergency departments and leads to increased corridor care, the Royal College of Emergency Medicine has warned.

Disruption from reductions to many health and social care services over Christmas and the New Year takes the NHS most of January to recover from, the college argued.
