Fewer female surgeons than male surgeons named David in one specialty in private hospitals

Just 6.2% of surgeons working in private hospitals are women – and in one specialty, there are fewer female consultants than male surgeons named David.

New research published in The Bulletin of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS England) reveals that female representation in the independent sector is substantially lower than in the NHS, where women make up 16.9% of surgeons.
