First hospital inspector announced as preferred new CQC chair

Professor Sir Mike Richards, who retired as the first chief inspector of hospitals 8 years ago, has been announced as the preferred candidate to be the next chair of the Care Quality Commission.

The selection is subject to approval by the Health and Social Care Select Committee, but if given the go-ahead Prof Richards will take over from the current chair, Ian Dilks.
