Gender gap in surgical training applications widens despite female majority in medical schools

The gap between the number of applications for surgical specialty training posts between men and women is growing, the Royal College of Surgeons of England has warned.

The RCS’s Women in Surgery (WinS) forum said it was “deeply concerning” that the progress of women in surgery may be stalling.
