Gene therapy approved for severe sickle cell disease

New draft guidance has approved the use of gene editing therapy on the NHS in England for some people with severe sickle cell disease.

These patients will be among the first in the world to benefit from CRISPR gene editing technology, said the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).1
