GMC’s approach to associate professions is ‘unlawful’, BMA tells High Court

The medical regulator’s approach towards associate professions is unlawful and gives “rise to real patient safety concerns”, the High Court has heard.

The British Medical Association is bringing a legal challenge against the General Medical Council, accusing the regulator of abandoning its responsibilities to patients’ safety by blurring the lines between doctors and physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs).
