The GMC is investigating former partners from an East Sussex medical practice after inspectors found breaches of regulations to do with safe care and treatment of patients, staffing and good governance.

Hailsham Medical Group lost its registration with the Care Quality Commission earlier this year after a second unannounced inspection found serious concerns related to safe care, effective management and treatment of patients, and systemic failures of governance.

The group ran Seaforth Farm Surgery and Vicarage Field Surgery in Hailsham, East Sussex. The inspection was conducted at Seaforth.

One finding was “ineffective oversight of staff employed in advanced clinical roles,” according to the CQC report.

The CQC clarified that this referred to a number of different staff roles in the practice that require formal supervision to ensure they operate safely and in line with national guidance.

The General Medical Council confirmed that former partners Dr Nicolas Cereceda and Dr Steven Seng are currently suspended from practising while an investigation is ongoing.
