Almost 17,000 GPs across England have voted to reject the 2026/27 contract changes, with 98.9% opposing the mandate for unlimited same-day urgent appointments.
The British Medical Association ran the referendum, calling on the government to return to negotiation with the union’s GP committee for England (GPC) and develop a new contract.
