'Growing wave' of COVID-19 linked to variants and falling immunity

New Covid variants and waning immunity have been linked to a possible summer surge in COVID-19 cases by an infectious disease expert.

The weekly Covid-related hospital admission rate increased to 3.31 per 100,000 of the population in the week ending June 16, compared with 2.67 the previous week, according to latest data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
