Celebrity GP Dr Rangan Chatterjee has been criticised by the advertising watchdog for making misleading claims that blood tests could help diagnose and prevent some serious medical conditions including Alzheimer’s disease.
The former presenter of BBC One's Doctor in the House and resident GP on BBC Breakfast was found to have breached advertising rules in two social media posts promoting Do Health, a health app and blood-testing service he co-founded.
The adverts have now been banned from running again in their current form by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The organisation upheld a complaint from a GP who claimed the adverts misleadingly suggested that blood tests could prevent or diagnose conditions including type 2 diabetes, serious kidney problems and autoimmune diseases.
The watchdog found insufficient evidence to support claims that the service could provide more personalised health advice than existing generic guidance.
The adverts, posted on Facebook and LinkedIn in March 2026, promoted Do Health's programme of regular blood tests and tailored lifestyle recommendations.
