Higher meat consumption may help reduce the risk of dementia and better cognitive function in some older adults with a particular gene variant, according to a new study.

The research, conducted over 15 years with more than 2,100 older adults, found that those with the APOE ε3/ε4 or ε4/ε4 genotypes who consumed the highest amounts of meat showed slower cognitive decline and a 55% reduced risk of developing dementia compared to those eating the least meat.
