Hospital productivity outperforming targets – but waiting list progress slows

Productivity in NHS hospitals in England is outperforming targets, although this has not translated into waiting lists falling, according to new analysis.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) suggests this is down to patients having more appointments and operations before being discharged, rather than people joining waiting lists for treatment.
