Hospitals ordered to cut back operations and treatments to save NHS money

Operations and treatments are being scaled back across many parts of England as the NHS grapples with financial pressures.

Documents seen by the BBC show integrated care boards, which are in charge of spending on behalf of NHS England, asking hospitals to reduce the number of patients they treat until the end of the financial year – a move that could result in hundreds of thousands of people facing longer waits.
