Hundreds of medical associates apply for GMC registration

Hundreds of physician and anaesthesia associates have submitted their registration applications to the General Medical Council since the body began regulating the professions last month.

On 13 December 2024, the GMC began regulating professions other than doctors for the first time since 1956. When regulation began, the council outlined that PAs and AAs on voluntary registers would receive an invitation to apply for registration by the end of January.
