Lead exposure a far bigger risk to heart health than realised, study finds

Lead may be responsible for far more cardiovascular deaths than previously recognised, according to a global analysis that found almost 6% of all deaths can be attributed to exposure to the toxic metal.

The Global Burden of Disease analysis estimates that 3.5 million deaths worldwide in 2023 were caused by lead exposure.
