Light activity offers protection after cardiac event, study suggests

Patients discharged after acute coronary syndrome can lower their risk of further cardiac events or death over the following year by remaining active, research suggests.

The most sedentary patients had a significantly higher risk than those in the top third for activity, found Dr Keith Diaz, associate professor of behavioral medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, and colleagues.1
