‘Many vulnerable children more likely to be rejected for mental health support’

Some of the most vulnerable children are more likely to be rejected for mental health support than their peers, new research into thousands of records at an NHS trust has suggested.

Children from the most deprived areas are around twice as likely to be turned away from NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) than those from the least deprived areas, the Cambridge University and National Children’s Bureau report showed.
