A new ‘map’ has identified significant changes in the brain among people diagnosed with six types of mental illness.
Australian researchers at Monash University’s Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health and School of Psychological Sciences, Melbourne, mapped more than 1,000 regions in the brain showing unusually small or large volumes in 1,300 people diagnosed with schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or autism spectrum disorder.
