Health officials are racing to contain a meningitis outbreak in Kent that has killed two young people and left others hospitalised, with more than 2,000 nightclub-goers being urged to come forward for preventative antibiotic treatment.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed that some of the 13 cases notified since 13 March have been identified as meningitis B. The agency told the Press Association it will confirm the strain seen in other cases "when we have the full results".
