More than a hundred new stroke consultant posts are needed across England, doctors warn

An additional 127 new stroke consultant posts will need to be created to meet the needs of the population, senior doctors have warned.

More than two-thirds (70%) of stroke services in England carry at least one unfilled consultant post with many (10%) in the workforce approaching retirement, The British and Irish Association of Stroke Physicians (BIASP) found in a survey of 84 out of 100 acute stroke sites in England.
