Moving NHS safety body into CQC could have ‘chilling effect’ for whistleblowers

Plans to move an NHS safety body into the Care Quality Commission may cause a “chilling effect” on whistleblowers raising concerns, MPs were warned at a select committee.

Merging the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB) into the regulator will threaten the body’s “safe space” for NHS staff to report concerns over patient care, the Health and Social Care Select Committee was told by health experts and the CQC.
