New GP contract to fund 1,600 more doctors and guarantee same-day appointments

A new GP contract backed by a £485 million uplift will require all patients needing urgent care get a same-day appointment, the government has announced.

In addition, £292 million of existing funding will be ringfenced to recruit more GPs as well as increase sessions undertaken by existing GPs.
