New UTI guidance recommends oestrogen for perimenopausal women

Updated guidelines on recurrent urinary tract infection are now recommending oestrogen treatment as a preventative option for perimenopausal women.

Previous guidance from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) stated that vaginal oestrogen should only be offered to postmenopausal women.1
