NHS surgeons perform European first with dissolving vascular scaffolds to restore blood flow

A European-first vascular surgery procedure was carried out in Leicester which restored blood flow to a patient without leaving a permanent metal stent.

The operation, which used two dissolving scaffolds on a 90-year-old man’s foot, was carried out by a team of vascular specialists at Glenfield Hospital run by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL).
