NICE approves 'smart' heart implant that cuts hospital stays by more than a third

NICE has given the go-ahead for an implant the size of a paperclip that allows people with heart failure to monitor their condition from home to be routinely used on the NHS in England.

The wireless sensor picks up symptoms before they become emergencies and could slash the number of hospital admissions for the condition, says the guidance body.
